H A P P Y - W A I T A N G I - D A Y The 6th of February marks the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi in 1840 by representatives of the British Crown and over 500 Māori chiefs, this is often considered to be New Zealand’s founding document. Times are always changing and there are mixed feelings around this day but for me I like to celebrate the fact that as nation we are doing amazing things to move forward. I’m extremely proud of my Māori heritage so seeing that our language and stories are alive and being used by all makes me grateful to call Aotearoa home.
